When I return to EBBC in four weeks, it will have been the longest stretch of not preaching a sermon since I was a senior in high school. I don't share that to frighten anyone. I don't anticipate the sermon on January 7th will be really long, because of not preaching for such a lengthy time. So, settle down. :-) But I do expect it to be fulfilling! I can't wait!
Over the past ten weeks, I've been praying and working, on-and-off, on a preaching calendar. Here's what I will be preaching for the months of January-February, 2024, God-willing. You will notice that, beginning in February, we will begin a series in the Gospel of Mark, culminating on Easter Sunday, 2025.

28 The House of God (Part III)-Ephesians 2:19-22

For my 50th Birthday, Becky planned a trip for us to get away and visit the Museum of the Bible, some other sights in DC and to attend Capitol Hill Baptist Church on a Sunday morning. We had a phenominal time away. I love my wife! :-)
The Museum of the Bible was fascinating. I particularly enjoyed the exhibit detailing how the Bible was written, preserved, and translated. And, both Becky and I were moved to see so many languages that still don't have the Bible in their native language. That said, I was disappointed with the absence of the gospel-the person and work of Jesus Christ in every exhibit. To admire the miracle of the Bible's influence, multiplicity of manuscripts, preservation and worldwide impact, but leave out its central message saddened me. But, there were many heroes of Bible translation who we were eager to read about.
In front of the White House, besides the very large Christmas tree, there are 50 smaller Christmas trees that are decorated for each state. Below is a picture of the Pennsylvania tree decorated by Kutztown Area High School.
We were able to attend Capitol Hill Baptist Church this morning. Both Becky and I were really encouraged by the worship in song, prayer and the Word. Assistant Pastor, Welton Bonner, brought an excellent sermon from Ruth 2.
I'm counting down the days until Hudson (and his parents!) comes to PA! He will be here for Christmas, God-willing. His parents sent so many good pics this week, I had a hard time choosing!
Praying for you often!
See you in four weeks, God-willing!
